Interviews

Our new principal asked our team to sit in on interviews for our open Kindergarten position. I hadn't done that in a while, so it was definitely an interesting experience.  We started with a phone interview which was difficult.  I felt like we didn't really connect with this candidate as much because it was over the phone.  Then we had a newbie teacher who was very nice, but very needy.  She was at a private school where the curriculum was very directed for them (and she only had 13 students).  Our next two were very well qualified and would make great teammates, but it's so hard to tell from an interview.  Our principal will, of course, make the final decision but it was nice to be a part of the process.  Would love to hear if your principals let you be a part of the interviewing process.  And, what's the craziest question you've ever been asked at an interview?  When I first interviewed in my district, they asked this question- "If you were a flavor of ice cream, what would it be?"  What would you say if someone asked you that in an interview?
